URGENT! Just heard about this ‘OASIS – retirement living development’. The developers’ “community consultation” period closes tomorrow. It’s in 2 locations – the residential part and the Glen Villa caravan park site. Belongil Creek runs through it.
It proposes 198 apartments with 485 car spaces! It is also linked to a separate development on Bay St – retail and ‘wellness’.
There is a significant disconnect between the project’s ecological narrative and its actual physical footprint and engineering requirements.
The Butler Street proposal is heavily branding itself as a “forest ecosystem” and “living with nature” yet the development involves:
· extensive excavation into mapped Class 2 acid sulfate soils,
· a very large basement car park,
· almost 500 parking spaces,
· the traffic associated with that, and
· urban intensification adjacent to a sensitive wetland system.
You have until 5pm tomorrow!! Send your submission to: consultation@plannersnorth.com.au
